Ensure That The Correct Material Is Specified in The Furniture Mould Design

It is important to ensure that the right materials are specified in all new Furniture Mould(FURNITUREMOULD) designs. The use of incorrect or inappropriate materials can result in poor performance of the furniture moulds in production and early failure of the tools.

In all furniture mould materials, we are looking for certain characteristics to facilitate mould manufacturing and have good performance in the manufacture of furniture moulds. Ideally, we want the final material to have the following properties:

Good processing performance

Easy to heat treatment, need to be hardened

Good toughness and strength

Polished and accepted texture

Good heat resistance and wear resistance

Good fatigue resistance

High thermal conductivity, effective water cooling

Good corrosion resistance

Unfortunately, in practice, no single material will exhibit all of these characteristics, so a compromise must be reached depending on the type of tool design used. The main control factors that should be considered include:

Tool life based on the number of parts required to produce the tool

Moulding materials used (eg, abrasive or corrosive?)

Texture and polishing requirements

Whether hardening is required (for example, for long-running tools or side cores and splits, etc.)

Whether high thermal conductivity is required

Special requirements, such as using very high injection pressure or speed

For most normal applications, steel is used because it has most of the performance we need. However, there are several other applications where alternative materials can be used.
